An Offer From Edinburgh
I received an offer from Edinburgh today -- 3 Bs and I can go study Italian & Philosophy there in September.
The excitement has waned and now I am just scared and nervous. Scared of not getting the grades (everyone thinks I can, but they do not realise how difficult it is to get high marks in language exams or how easily I am dissuaded from concentrated studying), nervous about moving up to Scotland to start a new life on my own, nervous about the year in Italy that I'll get to do (scared that I won't become fluent enough in time to make the year un-awkward -- although I do imagine being so immersed in the place will boost my language skill significantly -- but those first few awkward months!), scared that being on a joint honours course will distance me from the philosophy students that I'd really want to befriend (but perhaps I can join a society?), just generally really scared and nervous, but mostly because of the first point listed. The rest I can deal with, but the first would crush me.
This post has been messy, but hey, it reflects my sentiments right now.
